Time Flies When You’re Having Fun
The days are long but the years are short.

Wow, It’s been a whole year since my book was released. This time last year I was planning a party and celebrating the release of Laughing Through The Tears. I am still overwhelmed by the support of my family and friends. It’s been quite a ride, from a television interview on TBN, a few  speaking engagements, book signings and learning to say I am a published author, I am still in shock. Since I was a little girl I have wanted to be an author so the fulfillment of that dream is still a little surreal. I keep asking myself what’s next? I honestly don’t know. I admit I’ve been a little preoccupied the last several months.  The summer started with my 50th birthday trip followed by the birth of my second granddaughter. Marley Rae arrived at the end of June, she is beautiful and perfect. To say I am blessed would be an understatement. I also had the chance to see Garth Brooks in Vegas-WOW-he is still the ultimate entertainer. Paul and I loved it, felt like we were back in Stillwater at The Weed, after we first met and were dating and getting to know each other. He mostly sang his earlier stuff, like 1988-1995.  It was like a trip down memory lane for us. We followed that with a trip to Canada. We went to a Blue Jays baseball game which was awesome but the icing on the cake was Niagara Falls! There are not words to describe the absolute beauty of the falls. You just kind of stand there in awe and think wow. It sort of left you speechless. So now we are home and back to normal…..kids are back in school and I am reminded of how fast time goes. Reminded of the saying, the days are long but the years are short. Fall is coming, which only means that a new year is just around the corner. What will it bring? I have some ideas but we will just wait and see. I can’t wait!

So, here’s my story…

I am Laurel, an author and advocate for those impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Through my book, “Laughing Through The Tears,” I hope to shed light on the journey of those affected by this condition and offer a unique perspective that combines laughter and resilience.

Joy Comes in the Morning

Even on the darkest day you can find something to be thankful for. Sometimes it’s in those moments when you realize how blessed you actually are.

30 Years and Counting

It’s not always sunshine and rainbows, it’s not easy, but we wake up everyday and decide to like each other. We laugh at each other, ourselves and the world around us and somehow it just works.

It Runs in the Family

I have been on this Alzheimer’s journey with my family off and on since I was 16 years old. My prayer is that our family’s journey on this bumpy road ends with me, that a cure is around the corner and my children won’t have to continue walking this path.
