“Shazaam-unto you a child is born”-Gladys Herdmen
Last night I went to watch The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! I haven’t been that excited about a movie in a long time. It was a favorite book of mine growing up and one I read to my boys when they were little and hope to one day read to my granddaughters when they’re ready. I even got Paul to read it early in our marriage and last year he found the 1983 TV version so we could watch it. I had really gotten my hopes up for this new version, which can be tricky because we all know that books don’t always translate to movies well or the directors decide to be creative and ruin it completely. Some things need to be left alone and done exactly the way it was written-well the people at Kingdom Story nailed it! It was like stepping inside the book and experiencing it first hand. Yes, I know I am a big dork, but I love a good book and second to that a good movie! Especially when it is something that brings back so many good memories of my mother. As much as I enjoyed the movie and it kind of put me in the Christmas spirit, I did get a little emotional. As you know thanksgiving is next week and between missing my parents and trying to plan dinner with everyone’s crazy schedules it would be easy for me to whine and have a little pity party. Instead I will choose to be thankful for the blessings that I have, which are far more than I deserve and too many to list here. And I will offer some of my dads best advice, it doesn’t matter what day we celebrate, as long as we get together to fellowship and break bread. So whatever your thanksgiving brings or if it looks different this year, I hope you can find the blessing and enjoy the day.
