We had our granddaughters last night and as my husband was putting our 2 year old to bed I heard him say…”Did you know that you changed my world?” Truer words have never been spoken. When we first heard about the pregnancy we did not respond appropriately…..our reaction was subpar to say the least. In my defense, my mother responded less than enthusiastically about our first born as well. Not because no one was excited but because as parents we know the work and the worry and the stress associated with having a baby. As parents we want to protect our children as long as we can. Children bring great joy but they can also add an extra layer of worry to life. My dad always told me when you become a parent you take on a lifetime debt of worry that you can never repay. Wow-thanks MIke! Little did we know how they would steal our hearts and bring so much joy and laughter to our lives. Today Hunter Jo is almost 2 1/2 and Marley just turned 9 months and they keep us on our toes and make us laugh. Sidewalk chalk, bubbles, parks and hide and seek bring a whole new level of joy to our world. I am thankful for them everyday. What’s the saying-grandchildren are our rewards for surviving parenthood. I think I have to agree. Hunter is sassy and smart and strong willed, she will be a force to be reckoned with. Sweet Marley is laid back, chill, but no doubt she will be able to hold her own in this crazy world. I look forward to watching them grow up and I will continue to count them among my biggest blessings of this life. Yes, they changed our world, but watch out world because they are going to do big things.
Joy Comes in the Morning
Even on the darkest day you can find something to be thankful for. Sometimes it’s in those moments when you realize how blessed you actually are.
